I'm Just Wondering That...

Унгарски

Én Csak Azt Csodálom

Én csak azt csodálom
Meg nem hal bújába
Ki az õ édesét
Gyakran nem láthatja

Lám énaz enyémet
Csak máma nem láttam
Mégis az én szivem
Majd meghal bújában

*
Bújába nem másért
Csak a szerelemért
Csak a szerelemért
Szerelem kedviért

Elvágtam az ujjam
Holtig foly a vérem
Messze van édesem
Ki bekösse nékem

Messze van édesem
Ki bekösse nékem
Messze van édesen
Más ember kedvire

Elvátgam az ujjam
Holtig foly a vérem
Messze van édesem
Ki bekösse nékem

Messze van édesen
Más ember kedvire
Messze van édesem
Más néz a szemibe

Submitter's comments:

Only the first two verses are sung on the soundtrack of "The English Patient", but a full version of the song appears on the Muzsikás album "Rabnóta".

I'm Just Wondering That...

I'm just wondering that
The one who's unable to see
His sweetheart frequently
Doesn't die of his sorrow

Well, I haven't seen mine
Today only
Nevertheless my heart
Almost dies of its sorrow

*
(Dies) of its sorrow not for anything else
But for love only
But for love only
For the sake of love

I've cut my finger
I'm bleeding to death
My sweetheart is far away
To bandage it up for me

My sweetheart is far away
To bandage it up for me
My sweetheart is far away
She makes someone else happy

I've cut my finger
I'm bleeding to death
My sweetheart is far away
To bandage it up for me

My sweetheart is far away
She makes someone else happy
My sweetheart is far away
Someone else looks her in the eye

Author's comments:

1. Archaic lyrics, it isn't in accordance with the everyday usage.
2. In Hungarian in the third person singular there's no differentiation between masculine and feminine gender, so that's a question of approach which is chosen. Either of them is possible. Here: the teller is male, the sweetheart is female.
