When I Wake Up in the Morning

Rumunština

Dimineața când mă scol

Dimineața când mă scol
Întâi plâng ș-apoi mă spăl,
Și mă razim di ușor
Și mă uit în sat cu dor

Cum trec mami la ficiori
Șî surori la frățâori
Dar la mine n-are cini
Că sunt străină pi lumi

Dimineața când mă scol
Întâi plâng ș-apoi mă spăl,
Și mă razim di ușor
Și mă uit în sat cu dor.

When I Wake Up in the Morning

When I wake up in the morning,
I first weep and then I wash my face,
And then I lean against the door,
And look at my village longing

And I see mothers going to their sons
And sisters going to their brothers,
But no one ever comes to my place
For I am alone in this world.

When I wake up in the morning,
I first weep and then I wash my face,
And then I lean against the door,
And look at my village longing.

Întâi plâng=First I weep
a se rezema=to lean/ to rest (on/against)
dor (yearning/ longing) is not necessarily associated with love…
străină pe lume=I guess it actually means „all alone in this world/all by myself”

Right. Made the adjustemnts. I'm waiting for suggestions for the French traslation now.

Here's my own version.
You can use it if you find it to your liking.
I'll take it down later so it doesn't clutter this space.

Turcanin, I think you should submit that as an alternative translation. If I copy too much of your version, I'd have a guilty conscience Smile I really don't mind if you do.
And don't remove your comment; people in the year 2525 will (probably) want to know how we used to talk to each other in 2011. (Wouldn't you like to see how Burebista was talking to Deceneu? Tongue Deceneu would say: "Sir, you should reconsider supporting Caesar, not Popmpeius." But Burebista just wouldn't listen.) Hehe

It's not copying if I agree to it, and if I'm offering it's called working together or "making it better".
We're not actually "translating" lyrics, we're mainly translating words and phrases, so there is no reason why there should be so many versions for the same lyrics, since there isn't much to interpret.
I guess the translators on this site should agree on the best version. If there are too many versions, it's obvious that in most cases the translation isn't quite right.
This is why I take the risk of annoying people with my comments, instead of posting my own version.

As to your second comment, I'll have to get back on it some other time, since it's a very interesting thought and too vast to be discussed here.
