Tum de dum

Ruština

Lya Lya (Ля-ля)

Tum de dum

Tell me once more how you longed
How you went through each minute away from me.
And tell me what you kept to yourself
As you held me tenderly by the hand.

Each single word sounds new to me

(chorus:)
All words are but words
Like a leaf falling from a twig
And they barely help
To describe this day and this night.

All words are but words
Again and again, like 2+2=4, (1)
Always the same tune, later alligator
But this is not all, not that way, not about all.

You did not call, did not write
For half an hour already, must be at work
But I need to know, and you are the one who must
Tell me how much you want to see me

You must tell me again, word after word

(chorus)

How shall I speak to you about love?
Withous speaking of roses, tears and soppy movies?(2)
???? this pure delirium(3)
And the most importants words are no words at all.
But there is a caress like a jolt,
A glance shrouded in mistery
Whispers that can rock your boat (4)
And you would only want Tum de dums...

(chorus)

Author's comment:

Sounds like a japanime intro to me. Rather funny, though.
And besides I love "how to train your dragon" Smile.

------------------------------------------
(1) A collection of "later-alligator-like" idioms that I translated approximately.
(2) I assume "Морковь" refers to "Любовь-Морковь", a well known soppy movie. Here again "Морковь" means "carot", but rhymes with "Любовь" (love).
(3) word for word "for you to remember blood, this 100° rant". This sentence defeats my translation power Smile.
(4) litrerally: "near the whispers there are breakers against the boat's side"

Thank you so much for the translation! I love this song even more now that I know the meaning. I can't tell what you meant by "tum de dum," though.

Thanks, glad it pleased you Smile

"tum de dum" stands for someone humming a tune. Like "tra la la". I could actually have put that instead, but I feared it would sound a bit too childish.
