Бор садила мома Евгенија,

бор садила, ем Бога молила:

- Дај ми Боже бор, да ми порасне,

да се качам на борови ветки.

Да си видам сред море гемија,

во гемија, окован делија.

Раце му се в' синџир заклучени,

нозе му се в' букагии стегнати.

На рамена два сиви сокола.

Го опита мома Евгенија

со ш' ги рани два сива сокола.

Одговори окован делија:

- Парче сечам, соколи ги ранам,

солзи ронам, вода ги напивам.

Übersetzung

Eugenia the girl was planting a pine.

she was planting a pine, but she prayed to God as well:

- "O God, let this pine grow, for me,

so I can climb on the pine's branches.

So I can see a boat in the middle of the sea,

on the boat, a young boy is in shackles.

His hands are locked in chains,

his legs are clenched in cuffs.

Two grey hawks are on his shoulders."

Eugenia the girl, had asked the young boy:

"what do you feed the hawks with?"

And the young boy in shackles answers:

- "I cut peaces of myself, and let them eat,

I cry tears, and let them drink."
