Be Happy (Froh Sein)

Englisch Übersetzung

Be Happy

I need to go now
It’s already late, listen up: ¹
If something happens,
we can talk tomorrow,
but today we said
what needed to be said
and tonight I can’t
deal with this anymore, ay.

Call me,
I’m certainly there for you
and no matter what the problem is,
you’ve got a place with me.
And I’d like to take the time
‘cause I want you to know
that the two of us meant something to me. ²
It’s always hard to see clearly in the end
‘cause you need a little space
to understand it all.
Don’t look at me that way.
I need to go now,
I really need to go.

I know you’ll be happy,
if you let go;
when it’s over and done with, ³
I know it’ll be all right
if you let it go,
if you let me go.

I think a new path lies before us,
where each of us now go our own way.
I think it’s all right
if we don’t see each other for a while.
It wasn’t necessarily your fault or mine. ⁴
It’s the many little demons, which you lose against. ⁵
In the end, all the talk is of no use.
Not talking anymore helps us there.

And I know you’ll be happy
if you let go;
when it’s over and done with,
I know it’ll be all right
if you let it go,
if you let me go.

I need to go now,
I need to go now,
I need to go now,
I really need to go,
I need to go now,
I need to go now,
I need to go now,
I really need to go.

I know you’ll be happy
if you let go;
when it’s done and over with,
I know it’ll be all right
if you let it go,
if you let me go.

You’ll be happy
if you let go
when it’s done and over with.
And it’ll be all right
if you let it go,
if you let me go.

A new path lies before us.

¹ Pass auf = pay attention. “Listen up” conveys the same meaning, and that’s how it would be said in English.
² Straight translation: das mit uns war ein ganz großes Ding für mich = that with us was a very big thing (for/to) me.
³ Idiom: Darüber ist längst Gras gewachsen = that’s over and done with. Straight translation: Wenn mal Gras drüber wächst: When the grass has once grown over it. http://www.linguee.de/deutsch-englisch/search?source=auto&query=gras+dar...
⁴ Idiom: an jdm. liegen = to be because of someone. To be someone’s fault in this context works too.
⁵ Complete thought: It’s the little demons, which you lose (the fight) against.

Froh Sein

Ich muss jetzt los,
schon spät geworden, pass auf.
Wenn was ist,
können wir ja Morgen reden,
