burnished gold shines in vain under the sun.
As amidst the plains, contemptuously,
the beautiful lily looks at your pristine forehead.

more eyes turn to stare than at the early carnation,
and while it triumphs with hearty disdain
your gentle neck over the shining glass.
Enjoy neck, hair, lip and forehead,
before what once in your golden years were
gold, lily, carnation, shining glass,
turns not only in silver or violet,
but furthermore, all of it and you as well,
in earth, in smoke, in dust, in shadow, in nothing.
