Wir Zogen in das Feld

.
Wir zogen in das Feld.
Da hätten wir weder Säckl noch Geld

Strampede mi
A la mi presente
Al vostra signori.

Wir kamen vor Siebentod,
Wir kamen vor Siebentod,
Da hätten wir weder Wein noch Brot.

Strampede mi
A la mi presente
Al vostra signori.

Wir kamen vor Friaul,
Wir kamen vor Friaul,
Da hätten wir allesamt voll Maul.

Strampede mi
A la mi presente
Al vostra signori.

Wir kamen vor Benevent,
Wir kamen vor Benevent,
Da hat all unser Not ein End.

Strampede mi
A la mi presente
Al vostra signori.

  • 2. This is Landsknechtwelsch for "Take arms, line up for muster/appeal, gentlemen!"or "It's calling me to arms, I'm fighting on your side, gentlemen!"
  • 3. name of a place meaning 'seven deaths', but more likely "Siebentod is probably a German exonym for Cividale del Friuli, they just misheard "Cividât"
  • 4. region in North Italy, close to Venice
  • 5. the use of the ä normally indicates possibility, but it could as well be the simple past

wir means we not me ....... thus being said the first line of the song would either be

wir marschieren richten in das Schlachtfeld
OR
Wir marschierte richten in das Schlachtfeld
OR
wir marschierte in auf das schlachtfeld

There are a lot of ways to write it
And the first line also says this
Wir zogen in das Feld.
Meaning we moved into the field

So field can be used in the meaning of battlefield? I wasn't sure about that.

"wir marschieren richten in das Schlachtfeld" is no correct German sentence.
You could say : Wir marschieren in Richtung Schlachtfeld."

Siebentod is probably a German exonym for Cividale del Friuli, they just misheard "Cividât", but it makes sense in the context of this song.

"Strampede mi, a la mi presente, al vostra signori!" This is Landsknechtwelsch for "Take arms, line up for muster/appeal, gentlemen!" according to this source. And here is also a discussion about this phrase. "It's calling me to arms, I'm fighting on your side, gentlemen!" sounds right to me.
