All the men of Scotland

Mathew says: let's get in
it's a bar you have to see.
There is always someone reciting
or singing in a corner.

The rest of us aren't keen about it
but there is no alternative.
Come, let's have one and go home
Watch your step.

We open the door
enter a very small place
people with lost gazes
there are fifteen people at much.
But it's really "heavy"
seventy years of average
and a man with a guitar
that just finished a song.

And we sit close to the fire
next to an old man with a beard
that wears a blanket and slippers
with a dog sleeping under him.

And I don't know which of us
goes and mumbles: what a fauna.
and points at him with his eyes
and we start laughing out loud.

Oh Mathew, ma dove ci hai portato?
this seems a nursing home
you don't do this to a friend.
Oh Mathew, not even your mother saves you
you pay the beer tonight
As for me, we can leave now.

We mock everyone
the dead and the one who watches it
when suddenly the old man stands up
this, dudes, can be real good.

With heavy breathing
and a wrinkled voice
says: this one is dedicated
to those who aren't here anymore.

And he starts, and goes on with the chorus
and all around there is a silence
that I won't know how to explain.
But we have to shut up, dude, we have to shut up.
Swallow our words
and listen.

The old man takes in some air,
and his veins inflate
and his face turns red
like he would choke.

But believe me
singing that way
there is no school in the world
that could teach you that.

Of all the men of Scotland
we encountered that old man.

And suddenly we understood what it meant to sing.

The first line of the sixth verse (after "ai, Mateu") is in Italian. The correct transcription is "ma dove ci hai portato?" which means "where have you taken us?" The only other thing I see is a typo--you forgot the N in wrinkled. Otherwise, looks good! Thanks for translating these Els Amics de les Arts songs; the lyrics are really worth understanding.
