The line about being over-polite actually mentions using keigo. "Keigo" is the honorific/polite usage of Japanese that people use with their superiors or in public places. Another translation of that line could have been "Not wanting someone to get too close I always spoke in keigo"
1. | 僕が死のうと思ったのは (Boku ga shinou to omotta no wa) |
2. | さよならごっこ (Sayonara gokko) |
3. | 1.0 |
Oops, I didn't even notice that someone else had already translated this.
The first three lines are temporarily in Japanese because that's a stanza that's in the song but was omitted by the person who originally posted the Japanese lyrics. But it looks like the first translator already informed the poster of that.
I'll edit my translation to make that clear. But that's why the lines and paragraphs don't match up as well.
I like having multiple translations to stuff when I'm learning. That way I can see the different interpretations/possible meanings/hidden stuff that wouldn't come to light if there were only one. I'm not learning Japanese, though. :( I want to but I'm too lazy to learn Kanji.
