I think that "Висок" is better to be translated as "Cheek"
Also, "Взведён курок" (The phrase I couldn't understand the most), is not yet clear. Would you try to explain it more, please?

I know also that "переменa" can be sometimes a "Military term". Isn't so?
Maybe I'm wrong. But I think that "Воиско без перемен" is something like: troops that should be finght to the last man because it can not be replaced or supported. Of course as a native you know better :)

No, you're wrong. :-) I think that it's a hint at Remarque's novel "All Quiet on the Western Front". Therefore, the line should be understood as "All quiet on the personal front".
