The river Volga flows

From far away
the river Volga flows,
the river Volga flows, to no end or limit.
Across ripe wheat fields,
across white snows,
my Volga flows,
and I'm seventeen.

My mother told me "everything can happen, my boy.
Should you get tired of the roads
as you come home at the end of a journey,
just put your hands in the Volga".

From far away
the river Volga flows,
the river Volga flows, to no end or limit.
Across ripe wheat fields,
across white snows,
my Volga flows,
and I'm already thirty.

Your first glance, the first splash of your oar,
that all happened, yet the river took it away.
I don't feel sad about the bygone spring.
Instead of it, your love is with me.

From far away
the river Volga flows,
the river Volga flows, to no end or limit.
Across ripe wheat fields,
across white snows.
Volga, I've been seeing my reflection
in your waters for seven decades.

Here is my harbour, here are my friends,
all the things one could not live without.
From afar, on the river bank, in the starry silence
another young boy sings along with me:

From far away
the river Volga flows,
the river Volga flows, to no end or limit.
Across ripe wheat fields,
across white snows,
my Volga flows,
and I'm seventeen.

And I'm seventeen
And I'm seventeen

I had this song bookmarked for a good while now and found it again by mistake. I feel like I've heard it before somewhere else (maybe the melody sounds familiar, I don't know) so I'm glad to be able to get a better understanding of the song.

Ellen, will you, please, merge this with that https://lyricstranslate.com/en/techet-reka-volga-%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%87%D0%B...
"Berezka" is a dance group, they don't sing at all.

Pierre, your translation will be № 4 but the best one because the other three are simply hideous. Liudmila Zykina was and is a golden voice of Russia, one of the most enchanting voices I've ever heard. But the song isn't a folklore one. It was written in 1963 by the composer Mark Fradkin to the lyrics of Leo Oshanin for a panoramic documentary "Течет Волга"

As for the translation, it's pretty good, Pierre. I like it. I'd suggest a couple of things though.

1. ни конца, ни края is an idiom which means two things - either endless vastness or unceasing motion. Here we have both in one. Your translation is correct but I'd make it more dynamic.
the river Volga flows,
to no end or limit.
2. Your first glance, the first splash of your oar,
That all happened, yet the river took it away. (Just to give it a more philosophic sound)
3. Instead of it, your love is with me. (In exchange being correct sounds too particular to me)
4. There's a misprint there
Гляжусь в тебя, Волга, I'll correct the text = I've been looking at myself in your waters, Volga, for a seventh decade in a row. Глядеться в воду means to see your reflection in the water (Or I've seen my reflection in your water, Volga.... Perfect is a must here English teacher speaking LOL)
5. Here's my harbour (figurative meaning, in one translation I saw "moorage" -I nearly collapsed)
6. Pierre, I'd specify "From distant river reaches/stretches"

Thank you, Pierre, feel free to accept or ignore. Basically, it's all nitpicking. Thank you for the translation of this cornerstone song!
PS. I'll change the video in my link into the original from the film mentioned above. All the best :)

Thanks, Ellen! :)

Pierre, I think otherwise. Плес is a navigation term, it's technical, it's a stretch of the river where it may not be navigable for large vessels and used mainly for bathing and fishing with a fishing rod because of shallow water. Why does a young boy sing along? Because the Volga stretches are a popular holiday spot and favourites with children. Dachas on the Volga stretches are expensive. But it's up to you anyway. :)
