Alban Skënderaj - "93 (English translation)

English translation

'93

[Alban Skenderaj]
It was the year '93
I remember it like yesterday
We both together
used to stay awake until the morning
And we used to sing ACE OF BASE
In a white FIAT RITMO

You wanted DISCO
I wanted LIVE and ROCK'N'ROLL
And lastly a movie on a video-cassette (VCR)
On your bulding's roof
We used to count from the same spot
A star like a lek*

[CHORUS:]
One more night, one more night
I'd give anything for you to take me there
One more night, one more night,
At the year '93, the year '93

I remember during class
You used to sleep on my shoulder
And I'd cover you with my backpack
How many afternoons at home
ITALIA UNO*, MTV
Until it was night

You wanted DISCO again,
I wanted LIVE and ROCK'N'ROLL,
A little alcohol and a pack of PRESIDENT*
Used to say: "Always side by side",
Used to feel like teenager version of Bonnie and Clyde

[CHORUS:]
One more night, one more night
I'd give anything for you to take me there
One more night, one more night,
At the year '93, the year '93

[Lyrical Son:]
I got the power!*
I turn back the time.
The Police Hour*
And when we used to skip instead of walking
We were at middle school
We weren't supposed to stay late out
Instead of books and notebooks
We used to have cassettes in our backpacks.
1993,
I remember it like yesterday.
Balconies full with satellite dishes in the city,
TVSH SAT*, ALBANIAN BREAKING NEWS!

INFORMER!
U know say daddy snow me gonna blame,
we used to sing that in my neighbourhood.
The police used to yell with the megaphone,
They wanted to scare us.
ALICKY BOOM BOOM DOWN!
White All Stars,
Levi's, 501s,
My hair styled with hair gel, bros,
Without a line, man.
And I also used to have bangs,
Gucci!

[Alban Skenderaj:]
(One more night, one more night)
A night, a night
A night, a night
(One more night, one more night)
A night, a night
A night, a night

[CHORUS:]
One more night, one more night
I'd give anything for you to take me there
One more night, one more night,
At the year '93, the year '93

Author's comments:

*Lek - Albanian currency (ALL)
*ITALIA UNO - In the communism era of Albania, the only foreign channel that was allowed to be watched was RAI UNO (Italian Public Television) so that's why albanians still watch Italian TV and most of them speak Italian.
*President - Brand of cigarettes
*I got the power! - Lyrics from Snap's famous song.
*TVSH SAT - TVSH stands for Televizioni Shqiptar (Albanian Television). In Kosovo, Yugoslavia, a lot of albanian newspapers, radios and the albanian TV Prishtina stopped boradcasting/publishing in Albanian because of Miloševič's regime. So, a lot of people set up satellite TVs to be able to watch the albanian state-run television.
*Ora Policore - The Police Hour means the pressure of Yugoslavian Police and the Yugoslavian Government due to a lot of problems after the unilateral declaration of independence of Kosovo in 1990, the removal of autonomous rights in 1989 in the Constitution of 1974, and the demostrations that happened in Prishtina, Kosovo.
