Sciera a scris:It's psalm 51 - shouldn't it better be moved to the worship songs?
I guess it depends from where you're looking at. According to my copy of the Vulgate, the Miserere is located in Psalms 50. Both the Massorah and Vulgate/Septuagint versions have their own numbering system which differ from one another -- something to do with the poetic form. You are right, however, because most versions of the bible list the Miserere in the 51st Psalm.
I agree that it should move over to worship songs. Sadly, no one has ever heard of the great Gregorio Allegri hehe.
By "it's psalm 51" I meant to say "it is a psalm". I now that there are several numbering systems.
I've moved Allegri into the featuring artists field.
Btw, I already mentioned it beneath my translation, but, I've compared this Latin text with a German translation directly from Hebrew which seems rather reliable to me, and hell, whoever did this Latin translation here did a good job distorting the meaning of some lines.
this is psalms 51 in the KJV. (english bible). its a psalm of David he wrote after the fleshly knowings of one certain Bathsheba, Hittite wife of one of his field marshals, whom he had killed by sending him to attack a fiercely defended city. (kindof like an Old Testament "Restrepo" scenario). He was in his late 30s when this happened. by that time he already had 7 other wives. If a prophet wouldn't have visited and broke him the news that the big G in the sky was mightily pissed with him, we wouldn't be able to listen to this song right now.
