Édith Piaf - Non, je ne regrette rien (English translation)

English translation

Je Ne Regrette Rien

No, nothing of nothing
No! I don't feel sorry about anything
Not the good things people have done to me
Not the bad things, it's all the same to me.

No, nothing of nothing
No! I don't feel sorry about anything
It's paid for, removed, forgotten,
I'm happy of the past

With my memories
I lit up the fire
My troubles, my pleasures
I don't need them anymore

Broomed away my love stories
And all their tremble
Broomed away for always
I start again from zero

Non ! Je ne regrette rien
Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal !

Non ! Je ne regrette rien
Because my life, my joys
Today, they begin with you.

nothing of nothing???
What does it mean?
When you write in lines in French, it obviously is not a translation!!!

I wonder if the people who put 5 stars could actually read English...

See, this is a common misconception in regards to translations between languages. I think you may be failing to realize that there wasn't some sort of language convention 3000 years ago, where they made sure that each word had a translation, in every language.it's also important to understand that ever language has its own little nuances and idiosyncratic qualities that those who don't speak it just can't understand.
To summarize; the translation is correct. You're just looking at it from the wrong point of view. It was never meant to be translated to English, because in English, it wouldn't rhyme, basically.
