Brand New Day

This appeared as a moral dilemma,
'cause at first it was weird, though I swore to eliminate
the worst of the plague that devoured humanity.
It's true I was vague on the "how."
So, how can it be that you have shown me the light?

It's a brand new day
and the sun is high.
All the birds are singing
that you're gonna die.

How I hesitated,
now I wonder why.
It's a brand new day.

All the times that you beat me unconscious I'll forgive.
All the crimes incomplete, listen honestly I'll live.
Mr. Cool, Mr. Right, Mr. Know-it-all is through.
Now my future's so bright and I owe it all to you:
Who showed me the light

It's a brand new me.
I've got no remorse.
Now the water's rising but I know the course.
I'm gonna shock the world;
gonna show Bad Horse...
It's a Brand New Day.

And Penny will see the evil me:
Not a joke, not a dork, not a failure.
And, she may cry but her tears will dry
when I hand her the keys to a shiny new Australia.

It's a brand new day.
Yeah, the sun is high.
All the angels sing
because you're gonna die.

Go ahead and laugh.
Yeah, I'm a funny guy.
Tell everyone "goodbye."
Its' a brand new day.

Translation

Cómo he vacilado,

Voy a sorprender al mundo;

Hi Jami!
I would like to make a few comments on your translation. First of all:
You translated the title "Día flamante" and then, in the lyrics you changed it to "Es un nuevo día". Is this intentional?
1. Third verse - " la plaga que ha devorando", either "ha devorado" or "está devorando" (could be a typo), and add "a" (la humanidad).
2. Fourth verse - More clear if you say "estuve claro" (if you mean "I"), or "fui vago".
3. Fifth verse - Subjunctive, "que me hayas"
4. Second stanza, first verse - This "perdonaré" alone, doesn't sound right. I wonder if you should say "lo perdonaré", but then you have "viviré" in the next verse... I don't know... (?)
5. "Now the water's rising but I know the course". I don't quite understand this line. Is she referring to the 'course of a river'?
6. "Y Penny verá El Malvado en mí" There is no cap. in the original. I would say "verá el mal en mi".
7. Last refrain - "sigue adelante y ríete".

That's it. Best to you.

Thank you my friend :) Your help is always welcome and appreciated.
By "Now the water's rising but I know the course", I think he means that trouble, including his own emotions/anger, are increasing, but he knows the action to take.

Weii yes, that's the idea behind the words but, literally. the saying: "now the water's rising", can we attribute it to a river, and complete it by saying, "but I know the course" (of the river)?
