Il Volo - Caruso (English translation)

English translation

Caruso

Here where the sea shines
And the wind blows strongly
On an old terrace
Before the Gulf of Sorrento
A man embraces a girl
After she had cried
Then he clears his throat
And recommences the song.

I love you very much
So, so much, you know
It is a chain by now
Which warms the blood in the veins, you know.

He saw the lights out in the sea
He thought of the nights in America
But they were only lamps
and the white wake of a propeller.
He felt the pain in the music,
he rose from the pianoforte
But when he saw the moon emerge from a cloud
Even death seemed sweet.
The girl looked into his eyes
Those eyes as green as the sea,
Then all of a sudden a tear came out,
And he believed he was drowning.

I love you very much
So, so much, you know
It is a chain by now
Which warms the blood in the veins, you know.

The power of opera
where every drama is a hoax;
That with a little make-up and with miming
You can become another.
But two eyes that watch you
So close and true
They make you forget the words,
they confuse the thoughts.
Thus does everything become small,
even the nights there in America,
You turn and see your life
As the wake of a propeller.
But yes, it is the life that ends
But he did not think of it so much
In fact he was already feeling happy
And he recommenced his song.

I love you very much
So, so much, you know
It is a chain by now
Which warms the blood in the veins, you know

I love you very much
So, so much you know
It is a chain by now
Which warms the blood in the veins, you know

Be safe, be happy, and love Il Volo ♥

Author's comments:

This song's name does not translate because it was written in memory of Enrico Caruso, a famous operatic tenor.

As for the word pianoforte---this is the full name of the instrument commonly known as the piano. Its name comes from the two Italian words "piano," meaning "soft," and "forte," meaning "loud." The ability to play both loudly and softly was revolutionary for instruments at the time of its introduction. It entered English as pianoforte, but was eventually shortened to just piano. I did not shorten the word in my translation simply because I didn't want to(pianoforte is, after all, an English word).
