Songs that are LGBT+-related people in its thematics, issues, characters, etc. Of course, this is meant to be a positive, happy collection. Offensive songs won't even be considered - however, songs that are more serious or dark will be allowed, after all, not everything is happiness.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! Teeth smile How about I Want to Break Free by Queen? Wikipedia lists it as an LGBT song.

Alma Barroca    Fri, 26/01/2018 - 18:29

You sure can! How could I forget Renzo's song? I really like it and I relate a lot to it. Regular smile

Zarina01    Wed, 24/01/2018 - 22:40

Half of tatu's songs should be on here.

IdiotKilljoyWithoutPride    Thu, 25/01/2018 - 17:02

I can suggest you most part of Hayley Kiyoko's songs, as for example Girls Like Girls, Pretty Girl, Curious etc... Also Catey Shaw's "Night go slow" or Borgeous's "Invincible", and "Boy don't cry", made by Tokio Hotel, the video is about transgender people
Thank you for making this btw Regular smile

Green_Sattva    Fri, 26/01/2018 - 13:57

Don't you think that this song is offensive?

Brat    Fri, 26/01/2018 - 14:28

I've mentioned my attitude towards the song in the comments on its page. But whether it is offensive or not, it's remarkable for its priority. Look, it was written when homosexual intercourse between men (while women had no reasons to fear, BTW) was prosecuted under law in the USSR. So it's of historical value, first of all as the first public appeal regarding the problem being previously hushed up. Wink smile

Alma Barroca    Tue, 30/01/2018 - 18:55

Hi, Nadia! Thanks for the suggestion! I've only seen a couple of songs by her, but not too many... I'll give a look later on. Wink smile

Macklemore:
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/macklemore-same-love-lyrics.html (For example discussing stereotypes about what it means to be gay, and criticizing societal attitudes towards homosexuality)

The comedic duo Garfunkel & Oates have at least three songs that might fit:
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/garfunkel-and-oates-gay-boyfriend-lyrics.html (About the benefits they perceive for a girl to have a boyfriend who's a closeted homosexual)
http://lyricstranslate.com/en/garfunkel-and-oates-sex-ducks-lyrics.html (Mocking the notion that legalizing gay marriage would inevitably lead to zoophilia getting legalized as well)

Alma Barroca    Tue, 30/01/2018 - 18:53

Hi, folks! Thanks for the suggestions! I'm adding the songs bit by bit. Do you have any comment about the song's thematics? I'd like to add them to the collection as a way to detail the songs as well. Wink smile

Alma Barroca    Wed, 31/01/2018 - 18:53

I've just added them, thanks! I just can't add YT links to it, as content needs to have been added to LT previously before being added to a collection, though.

Viola Ortes    Tue, 30/01/2018 - 20:20

You can also add:

Un uomo da bruciare by Renato Zero (It talks about a man who is going to marry a woman just to be considered "normal". In the lyrics Renato says "non diventare un uomo da bruciare" meaning "don't waste your life trying to please the others and live your life as you are"

Per non essere così by Renato Zero (it talks of a trans person who fears living her life. She feels like she's not a woman nor a man and she regrets for her condition. It is really heartbreaking!)

Diazepan Medina    Fri, 02/02/2018 - 12:33

I suggest this one: Libérate by Rafael Conde el Titi
http://lyricstranslate.com/es/el-titi-lib%C3%A9rate-lyrics.html

It explicitly encourages people to come out of the closet saying that "being sexual is not a crime", alluding to the Spanish transition days where there were many political demonstrations calling for authonomy, amnesty, etc.

Besides during the Franco days there was the "Ley de vagos y maleantes" (Idles and criminals law) which besides prostitutes, pimps and wanderers, it prosecuted the homosexuals.

maluca    Sat, 10/02/2018 - 00:20

Willie Colon - El gran varon

Alma Barroca    Thu, 15/02/2018 - 22:14

All must have been added by now. Thanks!

maluca    Fri, 16/02/2018 - 20:18

The second "It gets better" song is missing.

Wout Huygens    Fri, 16/02/2018 - 21:00

Is "I kissed a girl" by Katy Perry suitable for this collection?

Alma Barroca    Fri, 16/02/2018 - 21:00

Well, I was thinking about this song fitting or not, see no problem with that.
