A few days ago, I uploaded the lyrics to Dark Black Makeup by Radkey. And as I was listening to the song (which I actually really like) today, I noticed the lyrics I found online were wrong, so I decided to fix them.

I fixed them for the most part, but the first line in the chorus is hard for me. The singer has a unique voice so it's hard to tell if he says "if the world stops waking these kids up" or "if the world starts waking these kids up"

Here are the lyrics that's I uploaded, and the video is attached there as well

"When the world starts waking these kids up"

I listened several times. Toward the last part of the song it is clearer. It sounds more like 'when' than 'if'. I don't heard the 'f'. It's your call. 'Starts' is definite though.

That may have been something I missed. I'll take another listen here in a minute.

Update: I don't really hear "if" or "when" for sure. I just listened to the song about 4 more times

The original if came from the online lyrics. When sounds better with the context

I think they sing:

In the world stop waking these kids up
no decay's in their dark black makeup

or maybe ¨No decades¨

It's too suicidal. Looking at these dudes I can't imagine this. Maybe "Leave them all" is more suitable... Also the "if" construction requires a sequence of tences after it. But there's only present simple - "I just can't shake it". It has no "will" or "would" (suitable in case if there was "If we will stop"). And there are no "their games". "From their games" sounds actually like "With their capes". But the poetry is not as simple as it seems to be at the first glance. ;) The original text, In My Very Humble Opinion, was the following: "If we will stop waking these kids up They'd be cased in a dark black makeup Everywhere". :)

Besides, I am not very keen on American slang, but I suspect that "I just can't shake it" means "I cant reconcile myself to it", doesn't it?

I see two other options here:
Live the world,
Let the world
But if we consider the original it might be
Will the world stop waking these kids up

And also: "Let them all", "Either we'll" and so on. :)
The dude is a talented poet and a great singer. Two seconds of murmur provided a great lot of interpretations. ;)
Nevertheless the song is good. Radkey will be included into my playlist.
After the final decision upon the lyrics I'll translate the song into Russian.

I'm leaving it as it is for now only because I've been listening to the song over and over again for hours and I think I was right about the lyrics. "when" and "start" make more sense grammatically and kinda idiomatically (for example: "When will this kid wake up and stop playing games and just get a job?") in English so yeah...

So go ahead and translate :) And I'll upload some more Radkey lyrics to this site as I find the time.

I searched through radkey.net but found nothing. :(
If you've got a Facebook account, you can make a request upon this mondegreen at https://www.facebook.com/radkeyband/
And I'd rather wait until all the doubts are dispelled.
'Cause the translation itself is a piece of cake, especially in comparison with the material I am currently working on.
And 'cause the truth is usually somewhere in the middle.
Finally, here are the "pieces of capes" from the professionals:

2. http://www.contactmusic.com/radkey/music/radkey-dark-black-makeup-album-...
The show must go on...
