Julio Iglesias - Cosas de la vida (English translation)

English translation

That's life

Versions: #1#2
I was told that it's been a long time
no one knows where you are
Tired of waiting for me,
one day you left me
I was told that you suffered
and never forgot me

My love, that's life, it's just like that
Because for not having loved you, I lost you
And today, I regret it
You see, time just confirms
that love is something you never can play with
Love is a feeling

It hurts to think
you don't love me anymore
It hurts even more
to know that tomorrow doesn't exist anymore...
My love, that's life, it's just like that
I played with love, and I lost you
And now, I go back home, alone

I was told that it's been a long time
no one knows where you are
Tired of waiting for me,
one day you left me
I was told that you suffered
and never forgot me

Nice translation Regular smile
You could also translate 'cosas de la vida' with 'that's life'

Thank you for your nice suggestion, I've improved it Regular smile

Regular smile also I just noticed that you translated 'jugar' (verse 2, line 6) with 'judge', I'm not entirely sure that would be the correct translation. Perhaps 'gamble' or 'play' would be better?

Oh! For a brief moment I was careless, I have already corrected it, actually it means: "you never can play with". I should thank you again and I will pay a little bit more attention next time Teeth smile

Hi Lenon!

I have reformatted the Spanish lyrics. I didn’t make any other changes - apart from correcting one mistake (it was “sabenque” in the first stanza), that I have done already long time ago, but it didn’t influence your translation.

The lyrics on the net are given both ways - as it was before and as it is now. I decided to change because some lines where too long - after translation even longer - and they didn’t fit one line.
Now it looks much better and is easier to read.

I think you may need to reformat your translation.

BTW, it was one of my first translations from Spanish, when I just started learning it. At that time I translated it into Polish and German basing in fact on your translation. My Spanish at that time was much more worst than now.

Now I have changed both my other translations, basing rather on my own English translation, that I added now.

Have a look, compare and tell me what you think. I have made it different than your's.

Thank you for letting me know.
I have reformatted and corrected some parts of it.

I'll check out your version.
