cuya tenue luz pincela un arrebol ;

Translation

Corian Twilight

Under the blue sky, the sun folds a yawn
whose dim light paints a red glow;
The salty breezes curl as they pass
Resounding belly, naked from the sea.

From a bell tower, a song can be heard
sung1 by the bronzes with a downhearted air
and while the afternoon get bored of the light,
the shadows crowd together, weaving a cowl.

The whole spell of the afternoon
shows its grace, it's matchless colour,
and in a woman's virginal little face,
twilight in life, turned into a flower.

The nervous expression in her tropical eyes2
lighted my being when I talked to her about love
while her melodious voice like a limpid crystal
the waves orchestrated in a seashell3. (Again)

  • 1. In the version sung by Quinteto Contrapunto, the word "cantan"(they sing) is changed for "tañen"(they ring)". This line would then be "Rung by the..."
  • 2. Literally: of her tropical countenance; changed for added equivalence
  • 3. "Caracol" is both the 'snail' and the snail-shaped seashell
