Thanks Gloria, you did a good job although, seems to me, that this one was easy for you.
Anyway, in the second stanza-second verse, is it correct "he up and flew away", or is there someting missing?
Next verse - I would say "I still wait for him".
I don't know if the one sung by Dueto Miseria is the same one. I couldn't find it.
Thanks for the comment, Rosa.
I decided to translate the song because I love it and I thought it would be satisfying to do. I didn't think about how easy or hard it was.
Regarding "he up and flew away" it is correct English though very colloquial, perhaps too colloquial. However it is not slang. Putting it that way emphasizes the unexpected nature of what he did.
Re. the next verse, thanks for the suggestion. I will change it. I still sometimes agonize over hope and wait and which one is intended in the context. And I often get it wrong. I agonized in this case and sure enough, I got it wrong.
Re. Dueto Miseria, it's the same and it isn't. The chorus is the same but the lyrics in the verses are rather different though not entirely different. The melody is similar but their version sounds more Mexican and less Spanish. And as I mentioned before their track lists the same composer.
There is no youtube clip of them performing this song. To hear it you would have to listen to their track on the album. I don't remember exactly which of their albums has this song. I will research it and get back to you.
I researched it. It actually appears on two different recordings of theirs. One is a three disk recording entitled Dueto Miseria and the song is on Disk 3, track 2.
It is also on their album entitled Mexicanismo and there it appears on track 13.
Russia is waging a disgraceful war on Ukraine. Stand With Ukraine!
Suggestions and corrections would be welcome.
Dueto Miseria sing a version of this song, but as far as I can tell, only the chorus has the same lyrics. The verses are rather different. Yet their track lists the same composer. ???
