The Sound of Music (OST) - Do Re Mi [Do Re Mi] (Italian) (English translation)

English translation

Do Re Mi

If during the first school day
You want to learn reading
You would start from A - B - C
Exactly as for the notes Do - Re - Mi
Do - Re - Mi x 2
The first three ones are always like this
Do - Re - Mi x 2.
Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si

Do, if I give something to you
Re, it's the king who was once
Mi, it's the "me" to say "to me"
Fa, the note after Mi
Sol, it's the sun in front to me
La, if it's not really here
Si, if I don't tell you "no"
And so I come back to the Do

Do, if I give something to you
Re, it's the king who was once
Mi, it's the "me" to say "to me"
Fa, the note after Mi
Sol, it's the sun in front to me
La, if it's not really here
Si, if I don't tell you "no"
And it's so that the Do comes back

Do, if I give something to you
Re, it's the king who was once
Mi, it's the "me" to say "to me"
Fa, the note after Mi
Sol, it's the sun in front to me
La, if it's not really here
Si, if I don't tell you "no"
And so we come back to the Do

Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do.
Sol - Do.
Sol - Do - La - Fa - Mi - Do - Re.
Sol - Do - La - Si - Do - Re - Do.
If you want to sing, use these notes X 2

Do - Re - Mi - Fa - Sol - La - Si - Do.
Sol - Do.
Sol - Do - La - Fa - Mi - Do - Re.
Sol - Do - La - Si - Do - Re - Do.
If you want to sing, use these notes

Do, if I give something to you
Re, it's the king who was once
Mi, it's the "me" to say "to me"
Fa, the note after Mi
Sol, it's the sun in front to me
La, if it's not really here
Si, if I don't tell you "no"
And so we come back to the Do
If you want to sing, use these notes

IMPORTANT EXPLANATION (HOMOPHONY)

1) Do, se do qualcosa a te
"do" is the present first singular person of the verb "dare" (to give), so it is "I give"

2) Re, è il re che c'era un dì
"re" is the Italian word for "king"

3) Mi, è il mi per dire "a me"
"mi" is the Italian word we use to say "to me"

4) Sol, è il Sole in fronte a me
"Sole" means "Sun"

5) La, se proprio non è qua
"La" is the musical note, "là" means "there", so she sings "La (là), se proprio non è qua = There, if it's not really here"

6) Si, se non ti dico no
"Si" is the musical note, "sì" means "yes", so she sings "Si (sì), se non ti dico no = Yes, if I don't tell you 'no' "
