Доктор Хаус
Dr. House
Please doctor House,
Stop playing tennis with my brain
I still don’t feel pain
I’m not a mouse
Without a mouth
I’m not sane
Stop giving me bane
Chorus:
If you don’t care
If you are so keen
I’m gonna steal your vicodin
And have a good time, have a good time.
Everyone lies
Everything kills
But I will try your magic pills
Don’t think it’s a crime, not a crime.
Please doctor House
Stop bringing chaos to my soul
Like a black hole.
Where is your house?
What do you love apart from this ball
That you beat against a wall?
Chorus
Hey, Doctor House
C’mon let’s booze and I’ll get well
So, so well
You’re so grouse
That I will linger on in this jail
And become hale
Chorus

I would say it sounds terrific in Russian, but it strays from the original a bit far sometimes.
"I still don't feel pain" -> more something like "мне всё ешё не больно"?
"If you don't care" -> "Все по хуям" seems a bit harsh to me! maybe "вам плывать"?
"If you're so keen" -> something missing here?
"And have a good time..." -> missing too. Maybe the part on vicodin could be shortened a bit to leave room for these missing lines ?
"Everything kills" -> don't know how to say that properly in Russian ("всё убивает" sounds silly to me), but "everybody will die here" seems a bit far-fetched
"But I will try your magic pills" -> don't know really if there is some equivalent to "magic pills" in Russian, but translating it with plain vicodin is somewhat disappointing
"You’re so grouse" -> our German fellow translator chose "grumpy" for "grouse", I chose "handsome". Difficult to tell for sure.
I think that the German translator was more correct. Having lived in the US most my life I have never actually heard a single person here use the word "grouse."
I actually had to look it up in a dictionary. I don't know maybe it's more common in British English. I'm actually starting to wonder if "grouse" is actually what she's saying in the song because it kind of sounds like "You're so gross." The other problem with "grouse" is as far as I've seen it can only be a noun (a type of bird or complaint) or verb (to complain) not as an adjective like in the song. So either "grouse" is not what she's saying or she's just speaking improper English. It's really difficult to tell with that accent though
Well before I started my job as a social worker, they were scores of French words I didn't know ever existed
.
I have no idea of the reliability of various online slang dictionaries either, and as you said the singer is of no help at all.
On the other hand, this is just a little entertainment song, maybe not worth digging too deep. For all we know, that word could have been thrown in just for the rhyme, like the "bouse" that follows.
Ну, я могу и подстрочно перевести, это не сложно. В следующей версии так и сделаю.
В этой версии перевода я попыталась хотя бы частично передать ритм песни.
Да, перевод получился далеко не слово-в-слово и с более жесткой лексикой, но так и было задумано.
Sure, sounds like a perfectly valid choice. As I said, as far as I can tell with my Russian level, your lyrics sound very good.
Fidelity to the original is only half the job anyway. The final text must also be pleasant to read and true to the spirit of the song. It's a matter of defining a priority between these two goals.

"I still don't feel pain" -> more something like "мне всё ешё не больно"?
Ну конечно ты прав, но я попробовала передать ритм, в ущерб смыслу.
"If you don't care" -> "Все по хуям" seems a bit harsh to me! maybe "вам плывать"?
Ну да, сурово так получилось. Но "если тебе паралленьно"", "тебе фиолетово", "тебе по барабану"- ни один из этих вариантов не влезает в ритм строки. Английские слова очень короткие, ага.
"And have a good time..." -> missing too. Maybe the part on vicodin could be shortened a bit to leave room for these missing lines ?
Попробую заменить повторное "Твой викодин" на "Я словлю кайф" или что-то в этом духе...
"Everything kills" -> don't know how to say that properly in Russian ("всё убивает" sounds silly to me), but "everybody will die here" seems a bit far-fetched
Согласна, смысл совсем не тот.
Но "все убивает" звучит по-русски совершенно нормально.
Например: "Все, что нас не убивает, делает на сильнее".
"You’re so grouse" -> our German fellow translator chose "grumpy" for "grouse", I chose "handsome". Difficult to tell for sure.
Ну про рябчика нам уже Native Ucrainian Speaker Андрей объяснил.

Андрій, так можете і втрутитися в коментарі, вам тут будуть раді))
Вікодин-це наркотичний анальгетик, Грегорі Хаус його пачками жере.
Грубо получилось, согласна.
Мне уже приходила мысль переработать ближе к тексту, а нецензурный вариант оставить в графе "комментарий переводчика." Все руки не доходят.
Grubo.... tochno....
