Die Ärzte - 3-Tage-Bart (English translation)

German

3-Tage-Bart

Dein BMW-Cabriolet
Ist an und für sich schon o.k.
An jeder Ampel bist du König
Und deine Schuh aus Krokodil
Die zeugen von Geschmack und Stil
Doch leider ist das noch zu wenig
Wenn du in einen Spiegel blickst
Wird erstmal rücksichtslos gewichst
Dein Ziel wär der Geschlechtsverkehr
Doch dazu fehlt das Zubehör
Hör was ich dir sage: Dir fehlt der Drei-Tage-Bart

Hey, Joe, hör mal:
Das einzige, was die Miezen ans Gerät bringt
Ist ein sauber geshaveter Drei-Tage Bart
(oder "beard", wie wir
Cool-people sagen)
Don-Johnson-like wäre genau das Richtige-
Und dein kleiner Freund wird sich bedanken!
Du bist ein Geili-Geili-Supertyp...
Warum hat dich keine lieb?

English translation

Designer Stubble (literally, three day beard)

Versions: #1#2
Ba, ba, ba,ba...
Bababaa, bababa, bababaa...Beard
Bababaa, bababa, bababaa...Beard

You're relatively cool
Got thick hair and good health
You are not too skinny and not too fat

Already seen much of the world
And you never have too little money either
But your happiness is still missing something

Your accessories are perfect
But one thing you still haven't checked:
The smooth skin on your face
No, the girls don't dig that
No question, you are missing a designer stubble1

Bababaa, bababa, bababaa ... Beard (3 day)
Bababaa, bababa, bababaa ... Beard

Your BMW convertible is "in"
And by itself that's just fine
At every traffic light you're the king

And your shoes are made from crocodile skin
They attest to your taste and style
But unfortunately that is not quite enough

When you look in a mirror
You suddenly jerk without reason
Your target was intercourse
But for that you're missing the right components
Hear what I say, you're missing a designer stubble

Bababaa, bababa, bababaa ... Beard (3 day)
Bababaa, bababa, bababaa ... Beard

"Hey Joe, listen:
The one thing that will get you chicks
Is a clean cut designer stubble
(Or "beard" as we "cool people" say)
Don Johnson-like would be just the ticket
And your "little friend"
Will thank you!"

Cooli-Coolio-Superdude--Why doesn't anyone love you?2
Cooli-Coolio-Superdude--Why doesn't anyone love you?
You are a Cooli-Coolio-Superdude (Cool-Superdude)
A real Suuu-peeeer-dude

  • 1. A "designer stubble" was beard fashion that was in style in the eighties. The German term for it is" Dreitagebart", literally "three-day beard."
  • 2. I translated "geili" as "coolio". Geili is probably just a weird way of saying "geil", which is german slang that in most cases is equivalent to "cool" or "awesome" in English. On the other hand, "geil" can also mean "horny" when referred to a person. So that could be the case here, but cool makes more sense to me despite the sexual undertone of the song.

"Hast volles Haar und festen Stuhl - Got thick hair and a strong seat"

is literally correct, but in this case "festen Stuhl" means "hard stool", as a synonym for good health

Thanks! I couldn't figure that one out.
