Tuuti lasta nukkumahan!
Laulan lasta nukkumahan
Uuvutan unen rekehen
 
Einst saß ich auf dem Elfenberg
Und sank in tiefen Traum
Zwei Frauen traten da zu mir
Durch Farn und Waldessaum
 
Verweile doch du Wandersmann
Mit uns im Elfenreich?
Wir woll'n dich rote Runen lehr'n
Und schwarze Kunst sogleich
 
Wir woll'n dich fremde Worte lehr'n
So alt, dass Bären flieh'n
Der Drachenhort in Schlaf versinkt
Voll Gold und Turmalin
 
Sie sangen und bald schrien sie
In wilder Hexenwut
Ein Sturm zog auf und zu dem Berg
Jagt die Teufelsbrut
 
Wir stechen dich mit Dolch und Dorn

Alfar

Hush, child, hush, little one
Fall, child, asleep!
I sing the child to sleep
I lull them to the sleigh of dream
 
Once I sat on the elf mountain
And sank into a deep dream
Two women stepped up to me there
Through fern and woodland edge
 
Do stay, you wanderer
With us in the elven realm?
We want to teach you red runes
And black tricks right away
 
We want to teach you foreign words
So old that bears flee
The dragon hoard sinks into sleep
Full of gold and tourmaline
 
They sang and soon they screamed
In a wild hex rage
A storm arose and to the mountain
Sped the devil's brood
 
We will stab you with dagger and thorn
If you flee from the mountain
And curses will follow you
Misfortune and hell's beast
