Formalin [ Formalin (Формалин) ]

English translation

Formalin

She will not come, the dogs tore her apart
With metal tools the skin heads killed her
The treacherous ice broke

Her hands were not ready for a battle
And she did not want victory
Now I will take her place

She floats in formalin
An imperfect line
She gradually passes through
I have her face, her name
The same navy blue sweater
No one noticed the exchange

She will not come, her hands where in the viper's den
Her head was in a bee hive
And her back was in an ants nest

I will be there, I am molded from more durable clay
I am worthy enough to take the place
I do many things better as well

She floats in formalin
An imperfect line
She gradually passes through
I have her face, her name
The same navy blue sweater
No one noticed the exchange

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong
I don't know who these people are
My smile is a little strange

Soon they will suspect that, I'm not her, that I'm different
I don't know what will happen then
I'll pretend that I'm sick or drunk

She floats in formalin
An imperfect line
She gradually passes through
I have her face, her name
The same navy blue sweater
No one noticed the exchange

She floats in formalin
An imperfect line
She gradually passes through
I have her face, her name
The same navy blue sweater
No one noticed the exchange

Author's comments:

Formaldehyde is a gas. Formalin is the result of mixing formaldehyde with water. It is a solution used for disinfecting and preserving organisms. It is dangerous to inhale formaldehyde so people nowadays only use it when nothing else is available.

That's what I call a beautiful translation. True to the original yet written in simple, pleasant to read English.
молодец, спасибо!

Just a tiny detail:
"Никто не заметил подмены" -> no one noticed the exchange

Thank you Laughing out loud I shall make the change

*were in the fourth line.
I don't see why there should be a comma in this sentence: "I am worthy enough, to take the place". But it's up to you. Else, I don't speak Russian, but it would do a beautiful original.

I like the translation Smile
I think she *floats* in formalin, because she's dead right? She cannot swim...
