I have a question. I recently posted a four tops song and it was edited by someone else. the info provided by that person is inaccurate...I am quite certain of that. the question is: why can someone edit my post, anonymously at that, but once they do, I can no longer edit my own post? that does not seem right to me. I would bet anything that I know more about this group and their music than the vast majority of people, in general, do...I don't appreciate the fact that someone added info to my post that is only half valid.

What do you mean? The song you posted can be accessed here > http://lyricstranslate.com/en/four-tops-i-cant-help-myself-lyrics.html

And the request you opened can be seen here > http://lyricstranslate.com/en/request/i-can039t-help-myself-sugar-pie-ho...

You can edit the content as you added it yourself - just click the 'Edit' button atop the page and add whichever information is missing or you want to be corrected. It seems you had requested a transcription - and with transcription requests people can come and edit information (even if the request is not theirs) if something is incorrect.

Additionally, the user who edited the song has the user rank editor, which is one rank below moderator. I'm confident he had good reason to change whatever he did, but if you disagree you may want to talk to him about it. His name was visible after he edited the song beneath the lyrics, so it wasn't anonymously - if you don't remember who it was I'll tell you via PM.
And you did edit the song afterwards yourself, that's why now you name is written beneath the song as "last edited by".

Normal users cannot edit songs another user added.

I was the one who edited the lyrics entered by "mamaru".
Lines and verses were anything but in a proper format
and the orthography was faulty, as far as I remember.
(all "I"s in minuscules etc.)

@Hansi: I have told him yesterday via PM that he should contact you if he disagrees with your updates.
If those were the updates you made I fully agree that there was nothing wrong with them, on the contrary.

Can't you as moderators do a review of the original entry?
Like going back in the history of a certain log?
There you can see what the original post looked like.

No, we don't have access to backups - our log only includes who did changes when, not what was changed.

Google has a cached version of after your edits and before mamaru's edit:

hans, i just want you to know that your non-response to me is very telling. as is your plea to the moderator to try to pull up the original. do you feel untrusted? or were you just "telling" on me? maybe you just need an "attaboy". or maybe you felt i was beneath you because i did not capitalize my "I'''s. as i, myself, am a "sculptor of words", i believe it is my right to take license...as did you. granted, on this one occasion i should have used uppercase "I"'s, other than that, i was true to the writer's format. obviously it never occurred to you that that may be the case, either that or you did minimal research...which i doubt. you give the impression of being very self-righteous, and mired in your personal dusty old world. you should look outside the box once, it might change you for the better. you may be an intelligent man, as i am an intelligent woman (and would like to be treated as such), but i'm willing to wager your knowledge of the Four Tops and their writers/producers, is at best "miniscule"...particularly as it compares to mine. remember, hansi, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Dear Mamaru, if you want others to be fair to you, you should play a fair game yourself. What you claim to be your transcription is actually a copy and paste work. The lyrics are everywhere on the net. But the most pathetic thing is that two lines are mistranscribed. If your transcription were different I wouldn't mind, if the lyrics were correct I wouldn't mind, if you had given a link I wouldn't mind either. But two similar wrong transcriptions can't exist, it means you have copied and pasted so you shouldn't pin down Hansi for your faults. Since you claim you know everything about the group and the music and the lyrics I won't give you my clue to the wrong lines. I hope you can make it out yourself!

Nobody has been rude or impolite towards you in this conversation - please keep that tone up.

@mamaru: Sorry that I used the wrong pronoun - your profile pic and the missing info in your profile lead me to the wrong conclusions.
However, you cannot accuse other people of not responding to you if you never contacted them in the first place. I told you to clarify this with Hansi via PM, but he tells me you never wrote him a message. Instead you accused him in this thread of not responding to you.
Your other arguments have been disposed as not valid by other members in this thread.
If you wish that your comments be taken serious you should change at the very least your tone.
