Expression Confusion

I was searching on the internet today and saw the phrase
zir o bam (زیر و بم). How would I use that in a sentence?

Also, on a different note, can "sham" be a shortened form of "basham?" I know sham means candle but I've seen different contexts for it.

Thanks!

Hi. "zir o bam" has different meanings. When talking about voices, it means high and low pitch and sometimes modulation. But when used in general conversation, it usually means "thoroughly" or "everything". For instance,

"zir o bam-e ghazieyeh ro dar biyar" = find out (dig out) every last detail about the matter
زیر و بم قضیه رو در بیار
(dar biyar (expression)= dig out)

What is "basham"? Shaam means dinner and sham' means candle. Could you provide the text in Persian alphabet

Some dictionaries have provided "nuance" as the English equivalent which might not be exactly it, IMHO.

If you are referring to this word "basham = باشم" which roughly means "I'd be" or "let me be";for example
"فقط می خوام کہ باشم با تو" (faqat mikhaum ke basham ba to)-- [All I want is that I'd be with you]
I don't think you can shrink it to "sham"

"شام" (sham) is a different word that means evening or supper
'شمع" (shama) means candle

It's the short form of "besham" (informal) OR beshavam (formal)

بشوم
بشم
شم

You cannot omit "baa" in "baasham" but there are cases like BESHAM that can be shortened.

There must be more, but I cannot think of anything right now. :D
