I've been looking for this song's lyrics and translation for years, I will really appreciate if anyone can help me =)

I've been looking for this song's lyrics for quite a while, but I haven't been able to get a reliable version. There is one song listed as Maki Maki around, but the lyrics are quite different.
This is the only part of the lyrics that most people agree in (and that will help you no to get confused with the other one):

maki, maki...
maki, maki...
marijana, marijushka,
marijarushka, marushka

Hello,
I don't know the song, so sorry if I can't help you a lot...but maybe I can help you just a little : I think Goran Bregovic is Serbian, and I don't think the original song will be in Romanian...But of course I can be wrong...Smile

I had to move this request to the forum, as this is the appropriate place to discuss this matter.

You might have found this topic before.

The song is in Romani or otherwise known as Gypsie language. It will be hard to find someone who will translate it for you unfortunately.

Btw Romani and Romanian are two totaly different languages.

Haha, Aylin, even you thought that Romani was the same as Romanian?!
Anyway, did you know that a Romanian song was the main inspiration for Bregovic's Kalashnikov song?

No I didn't, that's what I first replied : "I don't think that the original song will be in Romanian"
I didn't have the complete lyrics yet and I couldn't guess what language it was (don't know Romani or Serbian at all)...no I don't know that he got inspired by a Romanian song...

Well, I'm sorry, I think I misread the messages above. That proves that I'm also... sensitive when I think people mistake Romanians for Roma people, doesn't it? I can't believe I'm a (bit) racist (even if Roma people are not exactly a human race)... me... who asked for their language to feature on this site...
Never mind, did you like Enesco's Ciocârlia?

I don't think it's racism, it's just that you're proud of your language and culture...By the way...I think the names are (a little) confusing...There are a lot of Roma people coming from other countries than Romania but just because we call them Roma or Romani, people think they're mostly from Romania...and because there reputation isn't very good (here at least), it has a (bad) influence on yours (Romanians) too...and I don't like that Sad By the way, I probably told it before: I don't like racists and I think every culture and every country has good and bad things in its own way...te big problem is that (many) people always compare with their own culture , according to their own point of view, without trying to understand the point of view of the ones they criticize...So I hope I was clear, because I feel I'm having a "bad English day" Tongue
