This looks too similar to clever form of spam.

Absolutely. Yet another click whore trying to boost google ratings. People should not be allowed to post anything until they had published at least one translation, that would reduce the spam dramatically.

Then they will start posting spam-translations. The battle to stop it from happening is fruitless unfortunately as there is always a way to break any protection. Sad smile

It's ridiclious, the forum thread was just consisting of "Hello all Newbie here ", and now this. What the heck is happening here...

It isn't the solution, I know some people who do not post translations, yet, they are not making spams, it would be unfair for them to be unable to post forums just because of they don't post translations.

Well yes, of course you're right. That was just a reaction of exasperation.
Sometimes I just wish I could get my hands on one of these ill-mannered brats and give him a good spanking...
And even that would not be a solution. Most of these spammers are working in sweat shops, earning a miserable living by annoying people all over the world.
Just a sad reality that gets up my nose at times.

Yes, the sole problem is it gets worse each day. Spam comments, songs, translations, artists. And I still can't believe how a spambot could be that clever..

What puzzles me is this: how hard can it be to implement the captcha that Google offers? Like, for example "select all the images that contain busses".
Just my two euro cents.

o cheese i translated a comic today and had to use OCR cause the russian font was a terrible cursive one, i couldn't read a word. the buses and storefronts and road signs are funny, but only the first two minutes. after that its a chore. Regular smile

I think a capcha limited to the first few posts would weed out 99% of the buggers.
No need for a foolproof system, just something costly enough to discourage spammers and still not too annoying for real users.

Combine that with a link detector (forbidding to put links in the first 10 posts or so) and we should be pretty safe.

And now it is not a spam again. Honestly, what's happening here? :d
