After a while of pretty much abandoning the song, I came to see if anyone had tried to translate it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtMP7Nw0E3g

I hope some of you might have already heard the other versions of it:
English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-w2m-TeLi6I
Italian: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1BVDWCd8ZA
French: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHutAPGoSDM
German (Swiss-German/Allemanic): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y3OjJ3ib0w

Anyway, these are the lyrics that have been floating around the internet:

Quote:

Contre les ondes, cun nussa schpada i nus mans,
Contre il mar, nus arain contre la paraid,
Contre la misiergia, in vista de nus inimi,
Contre l'organtz, cin spai'a ni la faccia.

In avulsa sai d'atras das nuvlas,

La chantzun in nus cour,
La chantzun das muntognas.

Il sun a d'il vent, il sens d'artgent

Il clom dallas muntognas,
Il clom dallas Alps,
Il clom dallas patria,
La chantzun in nus cour,
Il clom dallas muntognas,
Il clom dallas Alps,
Il clom dallas patria,
La chantzun in nus cour,
La chantzun das muntognas.

No one seems to agree on the verse in BOLD if it's written correctly or not. I can understand it to a certain degree but wouldn't be able to translate it completely unless fellow Italian/French users assist me. If there's a Romansh user on here, even better!

So far this is all I've got: (3 words I had to look up in a dictionary)

Against the waves, with our swords in hand
against the sea, our backs against the wall
against the indigence, in the sight of our enemy
against the storms**, that strikes our faces.

A calling went through the clouds,
a sign, from the cranes in flight.

The call of the mountains,
the call of the Alps,
the call of our homeland,
the song in our hearts,
the song of the mountains.

What is that **, that's deep in our hearts?
and the question, that awaken the world?
what's that **, that *** from heaven?
and that ** that sound that comes from the harp?
a cry rang through the winds,
a warning, the call of the cranes.

The call of the mountains,
the call of the Alps,
the call of our homeland,
the song in our hearts,
the song of the mountains.

The sound of the wind, a burning sensation.

The call of the mountains,
the call of the Alps,
the call of our homeland,
the song in our hearts,
the song of the mountains
the call of the Alps,
the call of our homeland,
the song in our hearts,
the song of the mountains.

** or *** means I don't know the word. I know the song might never be translated properly, but I found it fun to challenge myself on breaking down the song. Any help is appreciated, and all discussions are welcome.
