Hello Admins and Moderators Regular smile !

I really enjoy this website and all the diversity and learning it
has to offer from places all around the world Regular smile ! I would like to
put out this request to become a editor on behalf of
your overall approval! I am an active user, almost everyday :p and
I love helping other users with song translations and meanings :)! My
native language is Turkish but I also speak Arabic, English, French and
a little Spanish! It would be an honour to become an moderator or even an
editor Regular smile . I feel that I am very helpful and kind towards others! I will be awaiting
your replies Regular smile thank you all for your time and consideration!

Sincerely,
Ruya Regular smile

The Admins are the ones that choose who is going to be a moderator, there is no voting or approval of the other users. If they think you fit into their criteria, they'll send you a PM asking you if you want or not to be.

I won't deny that you have done a nice job up to now, but asking to be a moderator won't actually make you one.

@Knee427 - lol what are you talking about? and it was me who told her to ask here. I don't know of any other way to become anything if you don't first show some interest in becoming that thing. Asking in the forums, speaking with other mods and editors, and of course, being active here, and a nice person - is the only way to join the mod/editor ranks.
Please don't confuse the poor girl xD

From a short chat I had with her, she seems like a nice person.
So if any of the other mods/editors here who know her, or seen her work, want to voice their opinion - either here on in our forums would be good.

Hi Ruya - I don't think we've actually spoken but I have seen you on the forums and caught some of your translations. If you want to help out on the site, I think you're a great candidate for being an editor. Regular smile (Knee is right about the moderator thing -- the admins nominate those users and that isn't done too often.)

Lumiiii!! don't confuse her too...my god xD

Who nominated me to become a mod remember? - the answer is you! in case you forgot (well at least you were one of the first)

The admins have the final say, but they often consult with the mods in an either active or passive manner.

I'm gonna sound kind of snotty, but I've been around for many mod nominations. The admins literally post a long list of mod nominees at what seems to be a totally arbitrary time, and say, "Here's the forerunners who meet all the requirements. Let us know what you think." All the current mods say yea or nay (mostly yea), and then people are sent their invitations. The list and comments are then deleted (though we really don't say anything bad about anyone) before the new folks come on board.

It's true, we can suggest other users at the time the list is posted if they've happened to overlook someone, but this is rarely the case. You were on the list and since most of us already had a TrampGuy Fan Club, we all rooted for you. It was more timing than us nominating you and having LT say, "Okay!" I'm not aware of a time when the mods have stultified a particular user and LT has just given in. This is pretty much ignored, and they stick to their system. (I know Berliner just became a mod, but in that case he'd been previously invited.)

As for becoming an editor, there doesn't seem to be a system in place yet, so I don't see the problem in asking. (You've been here for all that, though.) Regular smile

LOL, so do you guys hold meetings and stuff? Wink smile

But anyway, part of the reason why I said "The admins have the final say, but they often consult with the mods in an either active or passive manner." is because - we might not know it - but the admins "track" us all, and it's very easy to find good candidates for mods just by tracking us mods Wink smile

Hello Moderators,

Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it Regular smile ! TrampGuy thanks to you a lot too for giving me further insight about these procedures!

You're right about that. I would think that the teamwork comes from the admins being able to track statistics (who meets the time and point requirements, etc) and the mods (who spend far more time on here than we should) being able to give personal opinions via interaction/observation.

Meetings? Nah. The fan club's been renamed in honor of Arena, since he's the underdog now. Wink smile

I'm really really sorry, TrampGuy, I didn't know that. I was afraid I was saying anything wrong, I said what I knew (or what I thought I knew). Sad smile

Don't mention it! I'm less sad now knowing that I helped you ;). Anyway, I also would like to say that I also think you are a great candidate for being one. Regular smile

Having songs edited by a Super Turkish Princess would certainly add a tinge of royalty to the site ;).

I would add that many moderators, if not all, have first spent some time as editors.
From my personal experience, I would say the editor status already gives plenty of opportunities to make yourself useful and helps getting to know other active users or moderators.

I suppose this is the trend now that the editor status exists. I wonder if it should be the prerequisite?

This seems to be the custom, at least since I became an editor about a year ago. I think it makes sense to get involved in site administration gradually.

Yeah, I agree with kuroi, it's a necessary step in the process, and another good test of character. We don't want anyone who might misuse the powers he's/she's given, and it's also a little safer if an editor goes rogue Wink smile

By the way, congratulations, Editor Super Turkish Princess. Wink smile

Hello. As Alma Barroca said in the first reply, (5 years ago!) you will need to show commitment to the website. You do not have any translations. Although I too specially requested to become an editor I had something like 70 translations and over 30 transcriptions. Once you fulfill these criteria (quality translations, no Google translations), you may consider writing the admins.

Don't be disheartened though. If you like this website, these "goals" will fulfill themselves without you even noticing it.
EDIT: Okay, I take some of the things back. You have added a bunch of songs, that's a good starting point.
EDIT 2: Here's a tip for when you become an editor: measure twice, cut once. Makes communication easier as you don't have to edit your posts so often...

1. Be active,
2. Help others.
The admins will hopefully notice you, and if they think you can do it, they will ask you to become an editor. This is my experience, though... You could ask admins to upgrade you when you're a supermember, I can't be sure though..

BTW, if you participate in the 'Reporting' forums and seem eager to help the community, we Mods will notice it and discuss our opinions with the Admins.

So you mean, one is upgraded to the editor role after discussion?

Yes. Admins and Mods give suggestions (which we give according to our personal observations or intent - candidates send LT a message), then we discuss. After it, LT sends a message asking the user if they want to be promoted, if they agree, they become new Editors. If they don't, they keep their previous user role.
