The translator's page and Friends suggestions

Getting into the translator's page gets you straight into the "translations" tab. I believe, there should at least be some other main tab that would be more customizable, allowing the translator to choose the content displayed there.
There are many things that could incorporated to such "personal" tab in the future, but the main feature needed right now is the control over the contents there, imo.
This notion was purposed earlier and I really wish for it to be implemented as the translator's page is the "face" and/or business card of the translator.
Another related suggestion that was also mentioned a while back, was the adding of friends. I think that in this kind of site friends would be naturally sorted by language and music style which would make looking for specific content more efficient through users and friends, not to mention discovering new and relevant content.

If you not and admin but supports the features mentioned above, please make it show in a comment below for the admins to see how relevant, or irrelevant, these matters are.

Thanks!

I consider it a good idea. Not necessary but quite helpful. It's up to the admins if they implement it or not.

TrampGuy, we saved your suggestion about friends, it's being implemented.

As to the translator's page - could you please explain more? Which information would you like to see in the main tab?

Thanks!

Well, the main thing I wanted in this main tab is the ability to choose which translations/content will be displayed there. Let the user choose which of his/her work will show and in what order. For example, let's say I would like to put all of my 'Folque' (a bands name) translations on top and to arrange the displayed order of the songs. Another thing would be, let's say I wanted to exclude a certain song from being displayed there, so I will be able to simply pick it out. It will still show in other tabs, but not the main one, which will be fully customizable by the user. Users who won't customize their main tab, will simply leave it as the now translations tab.
The content that will show on top will be the same, showing the translator's information and maybe also friends and selected referenced content.
So basically this main tab will have the following features :
1. control over which content is displayed. (by the user)
2. control over the order of the content displayed. (by the user)

And these are the main features, many more improvements could be implemented later on if needed.

Thanks!

Ohh...another important info that should appear on a user's page is a "last visited" field, showing when was the last time the user visited the site.
I'm baffled as to why it hasn't been implemented until now - it's such an important piece of information to help determined which users are active and which aren't.

TrampGuy, thanks for your explanation, we'll keep this feature in mind.

As to "last visited" - it may be added soon.

Regarding the "The translator's page", I just came up with a better example that might up its priority on the implementation list.
When someone views a translation and want to get more info on the translator, or the work he/she posts - they go straight to their profile page.
There, the first thing they see is the "Translations" tab, and for most users, that's also the only thing they'll look at. The problem arises when a translator chooses to solve other people's requests and/or add translations he/she doesn't want to "represent" him/her.
I'll give a personal example: it has occurred to me before on several occasions where I chose to avoid uploading a translation or solve a request, just so it won't "mess up" my "main" profile page.
Now, I'm really not sure if this thing bothers anyone else here as much as me, but I definitely take pride in the translations I choose to upload. Therefore I would very much like the option of picking the ones to display from all my translations, so I could be "represented" more properly. This means, that I get to choose what content is displayed on my "profile page", which would also make me feel more comfortable with solving more requests and uploading other misc content.
Of course, this might be a personal thing, and I'm sure there are others here who don't differentiate between their uploads. But, this option is still the right way to go, as I'm sure most translators would prefer having their best work showing on top for others to appreciate, or for professorial translators - to act as part of their "business card".

In conclusion, I don't want to nag or feel like I'm imposing, but this feature definitely should be added.
Thanks.

Though I don't differentiate that much between my uploads as you I do like your idea.
I would use it to present lyrics that I really appreciate (as long as I think that my translations of these are fairly good).

I would like to see this "Translator's tab" functionality implemented, too.

@Sciera - Exactly! and it's not that it bothers me that much either Regular smile but for example, and I'll get even more specific for the sake of clarification, I would like to have my Norwegian translations on top.
First because, this is the language (and music) I care most about for the time being, and would like my profile to show it. Second because, I would like people to see it first so they could offer comments, feedback and ratings there first, instead of on work I care less about.
Then, there's the translations to which I used an external source - I really don't want them showing on my profile page at all. I'm not talking about hiding them completely from other sections in the site, because I still think they perform a great role in shaping the translator profile, but they shouldn't show in the main page (if not wanted). Some solved requests definitely don't belong on my main page either, and it does bother me that they do.
Lastly, and this is an optional, non-crucial, addition for now, there could be a section dedicated to a translator's favorite requests / solved request or any other favorited site content. The latter might seem a bit off, but think about the case were you ask for someone to both transcribe and translate a certain song.
That's it I think Regular smile

@RataNegra - Thanks for the support Regular smile

I'd like to say I agree with this idea, too. There are definitely translations I'm more proud of than the ones which are displayed on the first page of my profile.
