perché ha paura del sesso
o della smania di successo
per scrivere il romanzo che ha di dentro
perché la vita l’ha già messo al muro
o perché in un mondo falso

se è vero che ci sei e hai viaggiato più di noi

this is one of my favorite songs, but i am still confused over the meaning. Is about gay men?

It's not a dialect at all, it's completely Standard Italian.
Anyways I don't think it's about homosexuals, it seems to be about all lonely men, for whatever reason they're lonely
