Le Orme - Gioco di bimba (English translation)

English translation

A Little Girl’s Play

As if by magic, she gets up in the night,
She walks in silence, with her eyes still closed
As if she were following a magical song
And on the swing she starts to dream again.

She has a long gown, a milky face,
Moonlight rays on her thick hair.
The wax statue stretches out through the flowers,
Jealous elves are peeking at her.

Swing, swing, the wind pushes her,
She captures the stars for her desires.
A furtive shadow comes off the wall:
In the little girl’s play a woman is lost.

A cry in the morning, in the middle of the street,
A man of patches invokes his tailor,
With a bewildered voice he repeats forever:
“I didn’t want to wake her like this”
“I didn’t want to wake her like this”

Lovely - both the song and the translation. I'd only say "milky face" instead of "face of milk" (for your consideration).
