Horst & Monica (explicit)

[Verse 1:]
In a country, where people like to complain,
the flag is only flown during the EM. 1
(We’re Germans again and let's not overdo it)
There’s a man of relatively strong stature,
who had an emblem of the NPD on his bomber jacket. 2
"I’ve got friends now, somebody can stand me here!" 3
His name was Horst
and Horst didn’t feel comfortable in his body anymore
he had enough of his ball bag 4
(Pocket pool, always the same) 5
So Horst thought, I’ll just cut it off
step out, turn left-wing, and then I’ll call myself Monica,
(away with the Nazis,
give me the pussy).6

[Chorus:]
Everything is, everything is,
everything is possible if you want.
Everything is, everything is,
everything is possible if you want.

From Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica
from Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica

[Verse 2:]
The best stories are probably still being written.
Th-th-the true life
a seemingly nice little town
with a big right-wing scene.
A few years ago, there was a guy,
who was a member of the NPD
and a known thug. (tadada)
With a swan dive, converted into the opposite sex,
there’s also his right-wing past.
These days, she’s running for the left as a woman7
The bee became a flower, the sky is blue.

[Chorus:]
Everything is, everything is,
everything is possible if you want.
Everything is, everything is,
everything is possible if you want.

[x 2]
From Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica,
From Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica.

[Cro: x2]
From man to woman, from right to left,
out of the darkness, into the daylight
from being dickless, to an icon of tolerance. 8

[x 2]
From Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica,
From Horst to Monica, Monica, Monica.

It was a long way from Horst to Monica,
but when you see what’s possible
then you see that everything works out well!

Hi! Nice translation, brightswan, like always ^^
I noticed that you changed the tempus a bit in the following lines:

"There’s a man of relatively strong stature,
on his bomber jacket there’s an emblem of the NPD."

I think using present here is fine, but in the original it's past. Just wanted to mention it if you did that by mistake.

And another mistake: In the line before it says "und nicht übertreiben", not "und nicht übertrieben".

and "doch gewandelt" to "still converted"? does "still" mean the same as "but" or "yet" here?

Another thing: Hechtsprung to swan dive? xD The connotations... I guess you are right with translating it that way. But swan dive just fits the context of the song too good (perhaps I remember it wrong but I have the feeling that swans are sometimes used as a symbol for male to female transsexuals and trannies - I don't remember many occasions were I saw that symbol, though, atm I only recall a japanese anime where it was used that way)

Thank you very much Sciera!! I made all the changes you suggested!! ;)

ScieraSciera    Sun, 26/08/2012 - 11:01

You sure that you made all changes? Since when does "und nicht übertreiben" mean "and not overexaggerated"? I'd rather translate that to "but let's not overdo it".

haha...I just sent you a pm on that one!!!
.
Now it's done!

Ball bag, pocket pool, hahaha
I didn't get the second stanza: a far-right wing guy changed his sexuality and he was running for the Left political side? Does that refer to real facts or is it just their imagination to make the song funnier?
Let me repeat "weg mit den Nazis / her mit der Scheide" in order to memorize it, because it sounds funny.

Alles ist... alles ist... :)

Later edit: I added a youtube video. Did you put the word "explizit" there to make sure I'd read it? :P

Unten-ohne? Does that imply having no courage?
