Birgit Õigemeel - Igatsus (English translation)

Estonian

Igatsus

Oled kaugel
Sinust mõtlen ma
Unenägudes näen
Su hääl nii vaikselt
Õrnalt sosistab
Kallis, ootama jääl

Nii pikk on see aeg mil sind ootan
Kuid ja päevi loen
Jõuad mu juurde sa peagi
Siis sinu kaissu poen

Taevas põhjanael
Sätendamas öös
Nii kaugele meile
Unes silitan
Hellalt sinu pead
See meenub kõik, mis oli eile

Sügis vihmas
Uksel ootan viiv
Kas koju jõuad sa
Sulgeks silmad
Ja suudleks õrnalt
Su pehmeid huuli ma

Ootan ja ootan ma hetke
Kui sind jälle näha saan
Vaatan ja kuulatun öösse
Kas kuulen sammude häält

English translation

Yearning

You are far away
I think about you
I see it in my dreams
Your voice, so quietly,
gently, whispers:
my dear, keep waiting

The time, when I'm waiting for you, is so long
I keep counting months and days
Soon you'll get to me,
then I'll snuggle up to you

The Northern Star in the sky
glistening in the night
to such a distance, for us
In my dream I caress
your head tenderly
It all that was yesterday is reminded

In autumn rain
I wait at the door for a moment
Are you getting home?
I'd close my eyes
and I'd gently kiss
your soft lips

I wait and I wait the moment
when I get to see you again
I watch into the night and listen it
Am I hearing a sound of steps?

The same goes for reusing parts of my translations in your own (parallel) translations. Id est: it is forbidden. (If a translation is IYO slightly wrong, I'd be glad if commented or PMed.)
If you want to translate my translation into a third language or use it as a basis, you are welcome. Especially if you do it on this website. Just be so kind and mention it and me. :) You can also notify me (in addition, it would make me recheck my work and maybe find errors that you wouldn't copy then) but you don't have to.

Most of my translations are works in progress. One never knows when a revelation can strike. One word: recheck.
