Keep something down (English) — 1. To keep something down refers to something ingested, (drank, swallowed, eaten). When you are unable to 'keep anything down' it means that you are nauseated and throwing up, puking, vomiting (bouts of emesis).
2. It can also mean to oppress someone, something, or to make them feel bad, inferior, depressed.
