The ruana (La ruana)

English translation

The ruana

The cape of the old nobleman
Breaks to become a ruana
And four stripes mix
The castle and the cabin
It was founder of towns
With the tiple and the axe
And with the restless dog
That the mountain swallowed

Coat of manly man
Shelter of peasent cradle
Faithful shade of my grandparents
And treasure of the motherland
Taste of sweet sin
And sweet heat of skirts
Screams with its four ends
The embrace of the ruana
~
Because I have a noble forefather
Of Don Quijote and Quimbaya
I made myself an antioquian ruana
From a castillian cape
That's why when its folds
I hold and they hold me
I feel that my arrogant ruana
Is keeping me warm from the soul

Coat of manly man
Shelter of peasent cradle
Faithful shade of my grandparents
And treasure of the motherland
Taste of sweet sin
And sweet heat of skirts
Screams with its four ends
The embrace of the ruana

Because I have a noble forefather
Of Don Quijote and Quimbaya
