Cali - L'amour est éternel (English translation)

English translation

Love is eternal

We wake up, both of us
The same as we went to sleep
You as always on the right
Me on the left of the bed
I look at your back
Like an old friend
Love is eternal, until it stops

We’re already lost
But for the others, we must stay on our feet
Only the drunks haven’t noticed
We’re sinking fearfully to the bottom of that famous hole
I remember the time when we kissed
Love is eternal, until it stops

Love is eternal (x4)
I remember the time when we kissed
Love is eternal, until it stops

I remember the bench where we brushed against each other
I was the more timid, you were the most beautiful girl in the school
Have you dreamt of another since then?
Have I dreamt of a different life?
Love is eternal, until it stops

Love is eternal (x4)
I remember the time when we kissed
Love is eternal, until it stops

I hear the sadness swallow you up a little more each night
I hear you sobbing from the end of our too big bed
I would like to make you a promise but I’ve already lied so much

Will you always be beautiful? Will your hands shake
On that heinous night when you crucify me
With your voice as monotone as a november day
“I never feel as alone as when I’m close to you”

Love is eternal (x4)
I remember the time when we kissed
Love is eternal, until it stops

rêvé d'un autre -> rather "of someone else" or "some other guy" I think

Ai-je rêvé d'une autre vie ?
L'amour est éternel jusqu'à ce qu'il s'arrête -> the line is missing

Yeah - that is what I meant by "anyone else" - you'd think "someone else" would work but it doesn't when followed by "since that day"

It's the same as "have you had something to eat" / "have you had anything to eat since you arrived"

There's some subtle grammatical point here...

Oh yes - missing line added. :-)

Mmm... OK, but how would you render the difference between "as-tu rêvé de quelqu'un d'autre" (anyone) and "as-tu rêvé d'un autre" (a lover) ?

Well you could say "another" which implies another lover as in the French. Yeah that's probably better!
