VERB TO BE (am, is, are)

-im (-ım,-um,-üm) = I'm
-sin (-sın,-sun,-sün) = you're
O --- = s/he 's - it's
-iz (-ız,-uz,-üz) = we're
-siniz (-sınız,-sunuz,-sünüz) = you're
-ler/-lar = they're

now let's try to apply the verb to be with some words we've above:
let's take the word doctor as an example/örnek:

ben doktorum = I'm a doctor
sen doktorsun = you're a doctor
o doktor(dur) = s/ he is a doctor ( we can put dir,dır,dur,dür or put nothing)
biz doktoruz = we're doctors
siz doktorsunuz = you're doctors
onlar doktorlar = they're doctors

*usually we omit the pronoun since each pronoun has its own suffix which indicates to that pronoun ( except for the pronoun O)

örnek: güzelim I'm beautiful
doktorsun = u r a doctor
o doktor = he is a doctor

now try to write urselves, sizin mesleklerin ne? (what's ur jobs)

*note that we put y between the vowels and this is with ben and biz

THE VERB TO BE (Negative form)

değil = not
the personal pronouns suffixes are added to değil:

değilim= i’m not
değilsin= you’ re not
değil(dir)= he,she,it is not
değiliz= we’re not
değilsiniz= you’re not
değiller= they’re not

örenek:
(ben) öğretmen değilim= i’m not a teacher
(sen) öğretmen değilsin= u r not a teacher
o öğretmen değil= s/he is not a teacher
(biz) öğretmen değiliz= we are not teachers
(siz) öğretmen değilsiniz= you are not teachers
onlar öğretmen değiller= they aren’t teachers

THE VERB TO BE (Interrogative form)

the personal pronouns suffixes are added to the interrogative particle-mi: (except for Onlar)

miyim= am i >> mutlu muyum? am i happy?
misin= are you >> mutlu musun? are you happy?
mi= is s/he/it >> mutlu mu? is he/she/ it happy?
miyiz= are we >> mutlu muyuz? are we happy?
misiniz= are you >> mutlu musunuz? are you happy?
--lar/ler mi= are they >> mutlular mı? are they happy?

(Negative Interrogative):

değil miyim= am i not / aren’t i >> yorgun değil miyim? am i not tired?
değil misin= aren’t u >> yorgun değil misin? aren’t u tired?
değil mi= isn’t s/he, it >> yorgun değil mi? isn’t he/she tired
değil miyiz= aren’t we >> yorgun değil miyiz? aren’t we tired?
Değil misiniz= aren’t you >> yorgun değil misiniz? aren’t you tired?
değiller mi= aren’t they >> yorgun değiller mi? aren’t they tired?

Question Tags

Isn't it?, Aren't you? , Aren't they? etc - are all translated by the single tag değil mi?

meşgulum, değil mi? = i’m busy, aren’t i?
meşgulsun, değil mi? = u r busy, aren’t u?
Aylin meşgul, değil mi? = Aylin is busy, isn’t she?
meşguluz, değil mi? we are busy, aren’t we?
meşgulsunuz, değil mi? you are busy, aren’t you?
meşgullar, değil mi? they are busy? aren’t they?
