A Werewolf in Paris

Spanish

Lobo-hombre en París

Cae la noche y amanece en París,
en el día en que todo ocurrió
como un sueño de loco sin fin.
La fortuna se ha reído de ti.

Sorprendido espiando,
el lobo escapa aullando y
es mordido
por el Mago de Siam.

La luna llena sobre París
ha transformado en hombre a Denis.

Rueda por los bares del bulevar.
Se ha alojado en un sucio hostal.
Mientras está cenando,
junto a él se ha sentado
una joven
con la que irá a contemplar
la luna llena sobre París.

Algunos francos cobra Denis.
Lobo-hombre en París;
su nombre es Denis.

El hombre-lobo está en París;
su nombre, Denis.

La luna llena sobre París
ha transformado en hombre a Denis.

Mientras está cenando
junto a él se ha sentado
una joven
con la que va a contemplar...

...la luna llena sobre París
ha transformado en hombre a Denis.

A Werewolf in Paris

Night falls and it gets light in Paris,
in the day when all happened
as an endless madman's dream.
Fortune has mocked you.

Caught spying,
the wolf escapes howling and
he gets bitten
by the Wizard of Siam.

The full moon over Paris
has transformed Denis into a man.

He wanders by the bars of the boulevard.
He stays in a seedy guesthouse.
While he's having supper,
someone sits beside him:
a young woman
with which he's gonna gaze at
the full moon over Paris.

Denis earns some francs.
A werewolf in Paris;
his name is Denis.

The werewolf is in Paris;
his name, Denis.

The full moon over Paris
has transformed Denis into a man.

While he's having supper,
someone sits beside him:
a young woman
with which he's gonna gaze at...

...the full moon over Paris
has transformed Denis into a man.

A werewolf in Paris...

Author's comments:

This song is based on Le loup-garou (1947), a short story by French writer Boris Vian. In Vian's tale it is a wolf (Denis) who is bitten by a man (the Wizard of Siam, actually a werewolf with human appearance at that moment), and later on, during a dawn with a full moon, he transforms into a man. That's why song says lobo-hombre (literally 'wolf-man') instead of hombre-lobo ('man-wolf', which is the Spanish name for a werewolf).
