Le grand orchestre du splendid - Macao (English translation)

English translation

Macao

The enormous old ceiling fan
Tried to stir the heavy odorous air
The fear was palpable
In such a humidity

For the twelfth time that evening
Jeanne irritably unfastened
The third button on her bustier
For three wasted sailors

At the big poker table
Two aces hidden under the teapot
The viscount was placing bets
A hand resting on the revolver

MACAO MACAO
6 in the morning
It reeks of scarlet blood

The enormous old ceiling fan
Mixed fried food and sweat
You could feel the dread rising
As if there was no more gravity

Fred slumped over his bongos
From having sniffed too much coke
Watching his Mado leaving
On the arm of a gigantic drag queen

And then suddenly, pow!
The shot rang out
The viscount got it right between the eyes
He had a good hand for once
Laughed Max putting away his shooter

MACAO MACAO
6 in the morning
It reeks of scarlet blood

Funny, isn't it?

"six plombes du mat' " is just 6 in the morning, no pun on "lead" I think.

"plombe" is a common argotic term for "hour", as "broquille" is for "minute" Regular smile

Ah ok thanks - it felt like there had to be a link with the gunplay but I'll trust your savoir. Ah got it:
https://fr.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/plombe
...so it's more like "six strikes".

Yep, fun song I enjoyed that. :-)
