Grinding coffee

Spanish

Moliendo Café

Cuando la tarde languidece
Renacen las sombras
Y en la quietud los cafetales
Vuelven a sentir
Que son triste canción de amor
De la vieja molienda
Que en el letargo de la noche
Parece decir.

Una pena de amor, una tristeza
Lleva el sambo Manuel en su amargura
Pasa incansable la noche
Moliendo café.

Cuando la tarde languidece
Renacen las sombras
Y en la quietud los cafetales
Vuelven a sentir
Que son triste canción de amor
De la vieja molienda
Que en el letargo de la noche
Parece decir.

Grinding coffee

Grinding Coffee

When the afternoon languishes
Reborn the shadows
And in the stillness the coffee plantations
[they]Feel again
That [they] are sad love song
Of the old grinding
That in the lethargy of the night
[They] seems to say

A tear of love,a sad occasion
Carries the sambo Manuel in his bitterness
The night goes on tireless
Grinding coffee.

When the afternoon languishes
Reborn the shadows
And in the stillness the coffee plantations
[they]Feel again
That [they] are sad love song
Of the old grinding
That in the lethargy of the night
[they]seems to say

This song has been translated several times. The last one was in response to my own request. It was interpreted by Javier Solís, and Voltigeur did a good translation. In this version of Julio Iglesias some of the lyrics are slightly different than the original, and there is also a mistake:
1. First stanza, fifth verse, "que son triste canción" (no meaning), it is simply, "...los cafetales vuelven a sentir "ESTA triste canción...".
2. second verse, "The shadows are reborn"
3. In the next following verses (for the English translation), it is 'el sambo Manuel' the one who goes on, tireless, grinding coffee, not the night.
4. "(It) seems to say" (the song)
