Valeriy Bryusov - Моя мечта (English translation)

My Dream

My dream is fond of desert outlook,
As free gazelle she* wanders in dry grasslands,
The peace of fettered slaves's not in her book,
She's bored with path that's laid and measured by hand.
But when she meets the Hill of Lorn Shrines, look!
She shakes in superstitious trepidation,
She stands and looks, not moving blade of grass,
And walks away with drooping head, alas!
