Notre monde

Translation

Our world

Never has mankind evolved so quickly.
Progress is a race that invites itself
Every day, transforming us quickly
Into badly-programmed robots
As always noticeable, obviously. (*)

Fly away from the most important thing
At an insane speed,
Changing us in relation
To our daily synthetic approach
Towards a future of less pathetic discoveries.

In less than 100 years we have discovered the automobile,
Recently, the mobile.
In the 1900s,
It was the cinema's turn to develop
First silent, then in colour,
In 3D and Dolby Stereo, and finally digitized.

How, from a film without words
Have we arrived at such a powerful sounds?
To a superb evolution of waterfalls,
To be able to create so many emotions
That an extraordinary passion
May arise in viewers
And project ourselves into the film as actors?

Then we discovered relativity thanks to Einstein
And it's from there that Oppenheimer
Created the fear of radioactivity,
A discovery that led us to the atomic age,
That very one that heals and nurses our physical pain

Generating comfort and electricity,
Thereby creating an ambiguity,
Between the benefits and risks of the activity,
An extraordinary discovery,
But that which needs a lot of understanding
And maximum safety
To benefit from the start of its production.

The computer, an opening tool
But also a closing tool.
Indeed, our children have not become
Anything more than memorisers of the keyboard
To such a point that they don't know how to read or count any more,
Because of this keyboard.

iPad, a multifunction touch screen
Which makes us servile today
Making us dependent on a ringtone
And on a message, the impatient recipient.

How many times has the lack of control of progress
Made the human race lose its way
And that the individual, though hungry for advances,
Has gotten lost and is responsible
For his incompetence before his advances?
