I didn't use Google to do the whole thing, just get a couple of words. It just lookslike that because my Afrikaans is crap in the first place.

Well, someone did something that could almost be considered breaking one of the main rules of the website (no machine translations) and I tell him there are better alternatives. I didn't even scold him for it.
He also admits that he has not enough knowledge to do the translation properly (which violates another rule of the website) and I ask him why he then did the translation. I have no knowledge on Afrikaans myself but if he says "my Afrikaans is crap", then I'll believe him, and our rules say: "Only translate into languages that you are no complete beginner of."
He hasn't answered so far.
What do you think did I do wrong here?

What I think you did wrong has nothing to do with rules, for yout information, it's about being humane and cautious about peoples feelings... do you know what feelings are? I personally haven't read the rules and really don't care either...
