Órla Fallon - Bean An Ti

Gaelic (Irish Gaelic)

Bean An Ti

O eirigi suas a thogha na bhfear
Is cuirigi pice ar bharr gach cleith
Leagaigi sios iad lucht an droch-chroi
Agus cuirigi dli na Fraince ar bun
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

O bhean an ti, fa dho no tri
Beidh an talamh gan chios on bhliain seo amach
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

Ta jug ar an bhord is ta beoir ag teacht
Ta arm go leor ag an Duke of York
Ta an Francach is an Spainneach ar bhruach na tra
Agus b'fhearr liom go mor e na comhra ban
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

O bhean an ti, fa dho no tri
Beidh an talamh gan chios on bhliain seo amach
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

Da da da da da ...

Mo chreach is mo chra nuair a bhi me beag
In aois mo dha bhliain sular smaoinigh me ar olc

Nach ndeachaigh me ar bord no in arm an Ri
Sular chaith me mo shaol ag dul timpeall ort
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

O bhean an ti, fa dho no tri
Beidh an talamh gan chios on bhliain seo amach
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

Go mbristear mo dhroim faoin ualach seo
Ma thigim aris ag cur buartha ort
Is a mhead bean og as seo go hAbhainn Mhor
A shiulfadh an rod is a d'olfadh deoch
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

O bhean an ti, fa dho no tri
Beidh an talamh gan chios on bhliain seo amach
O bhean an ti, fa dho no tri
Beidh an talamh gan chios on bhliain seo amach
Agus o bhean an ti, cen bhuairt sin ort?

Da da da da da...

The video referenced no longer works, it would be a good idea to replace the reference to the defunct video with a reference to one that works; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF2QwbCCYnM works and has Orla Fallon singing the lyrics shown here, so it would be a suitable video reference.

It's a pity that the lyrics provided don't have any accented characters - there are nearly 100 missing accents, so it doesn't look much like real Irish. But that's not really important (it doesn't seem to change the meaning anywhere).

Is the reference to extra lyrics (that Orla doesn't sing) useful? I think that it's irrelevant and should be removed. If anyone submits the 1979 performance of this song by Máire Ni Bhraonáin (Moya Brennan) who does sing those two stanzas the extra lyrics should be included in the lyrics page for that version of the song, but since Orla Fallon doesn't sing them in this version of the song why mention them here?
