Mónica Naranjo - Perdida (English translation)

English translation

Lost/Fallen Woman

I will confess what I have lost:
A good man, a dull man...
I lost my faith, I lost my home;
I lost my dream and I don't know what else...
From the past, all I have left
Is this thing that resembles a woman.

That's how I ended up going from bar to bar,
On the street corners of some random place.
I was lost and then, I found you:
I fell madly in love
And I was afraid of you...
Afraid of the sweet slavery of love
All over again...

I don't need a friend!
I don't want the drama...
I just live in my own way...

I must confess that I grew to detest
That dark existence, the hostile night
That frightened me, that dried my heart;
And amidst the rubbish, your splendour...
And I told you: "Protect me
From the cold of the morning".

But the truth is that I don't know how to love...
I'm hurting you and I don't know why.
My life just keeps threading on like that:
Always stumbling right behind!
Go far away and forget me,
For I'm a fallen woman!

I don't need a friend!
I don't want the drama...
I just live in my own way...

I don't need your help,
I don't want more dramas!
I just live in my own way...

I don't feel it
I don't need it
So, I can leave it...

And I shall keep going from bar to bar
On the street corners of that same place.
My life will continue threading on like that:
My life will always stumble right behind!
I will keep away and forget
That I'm a fallen woman!

Tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama, oh!

And I don't want no tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Oh, tears and drama...
Tears and drama...
Tears and drama, oh!

I don't need a friend!
I don't want the drama...
I just live in my own way...

I don't need your help,
I don't want more dramas!
I just live in my own way...

Author's comments:

"Lubna" is a multimedia project that took Mónica ten years to develop. It is the musical accompaniment of a novel written by a friend of hers, which she composed, wrote the lyrics for, arranged and produced all by herself. Every song corresponds to a chapter in the book, and every video partially reflects the contents of each chapter (you have to buy the book if you want to know what happens!).

Personally, I think that the book is nice enough - nothing special, to be honest. However, the record has some of Mónica's most creative and interesting work ever, even if it also has the only boring and unimaginative songs she has ever written. Still it is worth buying. I hope you'll enjoy it!
