Poem of Beloved Eyes

Oh, my beloved
Those eyes of yours

They are nocturnal piers
Full of farewell
They are tame docks
Cintilating lights
Which shine far
Far on the piches

Oh, my beloved
Those eyes of yours
How much mistery
In your eyes
How many sloops
How many ships
How many wrecks
In your eyes

Oh, my beloved
Those eyes of yours

If God let be
Then God made them
Because no one could
Unless he knew
There are many ages
In your eyes

Ah, my beloved
With atheist eyes

Creating hope
In my eyes
Of one day seeing
The mendicant look
Of poetry
In your eyes

Hi Nat. Good to see you working on Zambujo. He is always difficult to translate.
Trilhando is difficult as there are so many meanings associated with trilhar. I think "shimmering" is a more appropriate word that scintillating as it gives the meaning of trilling, threshing normally associated with trilhar. Note mystery has two y's.
The really difficult stanza is the one beginning "se Deus hover...." I would translate this as
If there were God
God made them
For had he not
Who would not know
That there are many ages
In your eyes."
This is only my view. I'm sure there are others. Well done, MauriceV
